LIFT06 and live dialogue

An interesting trend I’ve been observing at LIFT06 is the online dialogues that are taking place during the LIFT06 conference in Geneva. Not only are there some 20 people blogging as the presentations are going on, but participants are also carrying out a realtime discussion using IRC and putting their thoughts into a collaborative writing document through a tool called SubEthaEdit. I’ll be interested to see what we can learn from these immediate reactions and comments about the conference.

The backchannel was nice at times (we neared 20 people at some point, if my memory serves me correctly). OTOH, SubEthaEdit collaboration didn’t really work out well — I think something in the network was preventing us from seeing each other. I know I barely saw any other people with documents open (and I know they were there), and not many people could see mine.

Thanks for that Steph, that’s interesting – 20 people on the backchannel! I tried also to access the SubEthaEdit colloboration and couldn’t get through.
